Assessment of the actual cost of invoicing
Arthur D. Little (management consulting firm) conducted an in-depth study on the invoicing costs of 16 French companies that were representative of the market. This study, which was conducted very precisely at the actual places of processing, gives a good approximation of “standard” costs of processing incoming and outgoing invoices.
The notion of “standard cost” corresponds to the situation of a well-organised company using traditional invoice processing technologies.
Estimate of unit processing costs for received invoices
The study shows that the average cost of processing an invoice coming into a well-organised company is around €14 (€13.80), broken down according to the following diagram.
